The Cape Foulweather Gift Shop, located at Otter Crest state Scenic Viewpoint, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 for its association with the commerce and tourism industry along the Oregon coast from 1937-1963, as well as its association with World War II and defensive measures. Now visitors can browse park and coastal souvenirs and enjoy one of the best views on the Oregon Coast from inside the gift shop. It's open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. It's closed January and February.

As both a park representative, the giftshop host provides service for Cape Foulweather by supporting store and visitor center operations. Hosts provide and receive information related to the history of the building, common marine animals, products sold in building and general area. Selling merchandise via a Poynt operating system while performing OPRD cash handling protocols. Review the volunteer assignment description for this position here.

Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes about 20 hours of volunteer service each week, per host. The volunteer shifts occur 9am and goes to 1pm, and are scheduled for Wednesday-Sunday.

Hidden in a forest between Cape Foulweather and Yaquina Head, Beverly Beach State Park’s creekside campground is one of the state’s largest. Some campsites and the park’s day-use area are just steps away from miles of ocean beach extending from Yaquina Head to Otter Rock. The park is central to excellent whale watching viewpoints, tidepools teeming with sea life, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and shops and restaurants in Newport

Welcome Center hosts provide a service to the public. As both a park representative, store and visitor center host, hosts provide and receive information related to the campground, products sold in building and general area. Selling merchandise via a Poynt operating system while performing OPRD cash handling protocols. Review the volunteer assignment description for this position here.

Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes about 20 hours of volunteer service each week, per host. The volunteer shifts occur 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, and schedule is varied depending on assigned site #. Host(s) will receive 2 repeating concurrent days off every week.

Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site is located in Newport at the north end of Yaquina Bay near its outlet to the Pacific Ocean. The bluff is forested with spruce and pine, and a large deck provides views of Yaquina Bay and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The west end of the park has parking and trails to the beach along the north Jetty. The main star is the historic Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. It is the only existing Oregon lighthouse with the living quarters attached, and the only historic wooden Oregon lighthouse still standing.

Interpretive Hosts at Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site provide a service to the public. As both a park representative and interpretive host, hosts provide and receive information related to marine mammals, coastal
wildlife, and general questions about the greater area. Review the volunteer assignment description for this position here.

Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes about 25 hours of volunteer service each week, per host. The volunteer shifts occur 11:45 am pm - 4:15 pm, and are scheduled for Wednesday-Sunday.

Yurt and Maintenance Hosts at Beverly Beach state Park provide a service to the public. As a park representative,
campground hosts will provide and receive information, communicate park policy, clean/maintain

Time Commitment: Available 2026 Yurt/Site cleaning months are as follows: May, July, October, November, December. If you are interested in 2027 volunteer opportunities, Beverly Beach recruits through a rolling 12-month period.  Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes about 20 hours of volunteer service each week, per host. The volunteer shifts occur 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, and have varying schedules depending on assigned site.
