This quiet park is located away from town and industry — a chorus of owls will lull you to sleep. Several campsites and three rental cabins face the scenic river.  During the year, you can fish, swim and raft, or walk the Riverview Nature Trail. The river offers some of the finest fall and winter salmon and steelhead fishing on the south coast. You can plunk from the bank or try your luck on a drift boat. Throughout spring and summer you may see scampering squirrels, soaring osprey, or a family of river otters frolicking in the water. The northern-most redwood grove in the U.S. can be found at the end of the Riverview Nature Trail by crossing the North Bank Road and hiking the 1-mile U.S. Forest Service Redwood Loop.

The Welcome Center embodies Oregon's finest virtues:  effective green technology and a warm welcome to travelers, plus service and beach access to thousands of area residents from Gold Beach, Oregon, to Crescent City, California. Solar panels send power--as much as 20,000 kilowatt hours per year--to Coos-Curry Electric Co-op, as well as heating water in the center. The earth itself warms the building in the winter and cools it in the summer.  Water and lights are precisely timed to provide for needed services with minimal waste.

The park’s 8,000-plus acres are open for exploring, stargazing and contemplating the elemental forces that carved this unique landscape. The iconic John Day River is a long, remote, natural river system with 252 free-flowing miles. The lower John Day River offers one of the best spring and fall wild steelhead runs in Northeast Oregon. Anglers also come for catfish and smallmouth bass. J.S. Burres, across the river, is a popular boat launch for rafts, kayaks, canoes and drift boats.

The launch is gateway to the Lower Deschutes, a 100-mile section designated as a National Wild and Scenic River and an Oregon Scenic Waterway for its outstanding scenery, ecological importance, and recreation value. This is where river guides meet their clients, families gather to head out onto the Columbia for salmon fishing or water skiing, and anglers show off their big catch.

Bullards Beach is a large, family-oriented park located at the mouth of the Coquille River, two miles north of Bandon. The campground is nestled among shore pines and protected from strong ocean breezes. Visitors can enjoy strolling on the beach, riding horses, exploring a lighthouse and excellent fishing and crabbing in the river.

The Lighthouse Host provides service for Bullards Beach State Park by supporting staff in the gift store / interpretive center at the lighthouse. As a lighthouse host you will provide tours and historical information about the Coquille River Lighthouse and its historical context.  You will manage the daily operations of the lighthouse store; this includes selling merchandise, stocking the displays, maintaining accurate logs of cash and credit card sales, filling out order requests, and transferring change funds and revenue to and from the park booth.  You will also be expected to keep the lighthouse and surrounding area free of litter, sweep of the walkways, and keep the interior of the lighthouse clean.  This position may include other duties that are not mentioned in this description.

Collier Memorial State Park features a campground, outdoor museum of historic logging equipment, relocated pioneer village and a new four-corral, primitive horse camp and trailhead. At the state's finest logging museum, you'll see rare and antique logging equipment dating to the 1880s, as well as more recent pieces. The Williamson River and crystal-clear Spring Creek converge in the park. The river is regionally famous for its quality trout fishery that consistently produces trophy fish. Spring Creek gushes dramatically out of a nearby spring, painting a picture-perfect scene as it flows through the park.

This Position will work with Park Rangers and volunteers to work on the multitude of small equipment and historical machines in the museum. From Lawn mowers to Skidders, We are looking for a Volunteer that can change oil, clean plugs and help research fixes for equipment that was created before the internet.

Central Oregon's White River Falls plunges 90' over a basalt shelf, testament to the violent geological forces that carved the region millions of years ago. An overlook is a short walk from the parking area. A steep, rough .7-mile trail takes hikers deep into the canyon to the historic hydroelectric power plant at the base of the falls, then on to Lower White River Falls. One of the first hydroelectric power plants in Oregon, it supplied electricity to Wasco and Sherman Counties from 1910-1963. The park is open year-round, though the main parking lot and flush restroom close during winter. Spring is the best time to see the waterfall's thunderous flow; by fall it slows to a few trickles.

Banks-Vernonia State Trail is the first “rails-to-trails” park in Oregon. The trail follows an abandoned railroad bed that stretches 21 miles between the cities of Banks and Vernonia. The trail consists of a paved 8-foot wide hiking and bicycle trail alongside a gravel trail for horses that's about 4-foot wide in most sections. The gentle grade in all but one area allows hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and people of all abilities to enjoy the scenic mountains, fields and forests of Washington and Columbia counties.
