Banks-Vernonia State Trail is the first “rails-to-trails” park in Oregon. The trail follows an abandoned railroad bed that stretches 21 miles between the cities of Banks and Vernonia. The trail consists of a paved 8-foot wide hiking and bicycle trail alongside a gravel trail for horses that's about 4-foot wide in most sections. The gentle grade in all but one area allows hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and people of all abilities to enjoy the scenic mountains, fields and forests of Washington and Columbia counties.

Humbug Mountain State Park includes one of the Oregon coast’s highest headlands, which shelters an inviting, forest-ringed campground along Brush Creek. A trail from the campground leads under Highway 101 to a sandy beach beside the Brush Creek estuary.

The Camp Host supports park operations by providing excellent customer service to park visitors and general campground maintenance. This position will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining sites 1 through 27 including hiker biker camp in the Upper loop campground and sites 28 through 34, as well as sites 87 through 95 in the lower loop campground while the lower loop is open from May through October. Tseriadun (pronounced serry-AH-dun) is popular with visitors stretching their legs on the miles-long beach, agate collectors (there's a reason the community calls it Agate Beach) and photographers intent on capturing the perfect shots of offshore rocks and headlands. Long ago, Native Americans lived at the site in cedar plank houses and hunted and fished in the mountains and rivers. Now, you can fish for rainbow trout and native cutthroat trout in Garrison Lake.

The Day-Use Host provides service for a park that is only open to visitor day-use and does not provide overnight facilities for visitors. The Day-Use Host is the only individual allowed to stay overnight in the park at a designated park host site.
