Situated in one of the most scenic areas on the Oregon coast, Sunset Bay State Park features beautiful sandy beaches protected by towering sea cliffs. Only a short walk from the beach, the campground has sites for tent camping and RV's, as well as cozy and comfortable yurts. Day-use and picnic facilities are located along the bay to allow easy access for beachcombing, fishing, swimming, and boating. A network of hiking trails connects Sunset Bay with nearby Shore Acres and Cape Arago state parks. Hiking these trails will give you a chance to experience pristine coastal forests, seasonal wildflowers and spectacular ocean vistas from atop the rugged cliffs and headlands.

The Campground or Yurt Host provides service for Sunset Bay State Park by supporting campground maintenance; clean firepits, litter pick campsites, landscaping, and inspect sites/yurts for damage, pruning, raking, mowing, and trimming & providing information and assistance to visitors. Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule of 5 days a week, 4-6 hours a day. Host will have 2-consecutive days off each week.

The Maintenance Host provides service for Sunset Bay State Park by supporting landscaping,

Perched on craggy sandstone cliffs high above the ocean, Shore Acres State Park celebrates two sorts of beauty: ruggedly organic and artfully constructed. Shore Acres features a formal garden inspired by the original, with plants and flowers from all over the world. Visitors find a Japanese-style garden with lily pond and two carefully curated rose gardens that include All-American Rose Selections. A rougher beauty beckons from beyond the garden, where a trail leads to a secluded ocean cove at Simpson Beach. Another skirts the cliff’s edge, offering spectacular views of rugged seascapes, furious storm waves, and migrating whales from December through June.

The Information & Gift Center Hosts for Holiday Lights provides service for Shore Acres State Park by supporting in greeting and welcoming visitors to the gift shop and assist with sales during the Winter Lights Festival. Time Commitment: November 1 st – Day Before Thanksgiving- Volunteers should anticipate 4 ½ hours per day and 4 days a week. Hosts will have 3 consecutive days off. Store hours are 10:30am to 4:30pm.
Thanksgiving – New Year’s Eve: Store hours are 3pm to 9pm. There are 3 shifts during
holiday lights. One shift is the opening/cash register shift, the second shift is the floor shift
working 4:30pm-8:30pm, and the third shift is the closer/cash register shift. Shifts are
around 5 hours long and hosts work 4 days a week. Hosts will have 3 consecutive days off.

Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a one month minimum with 20 – 30 hours of duty each week per host. January and February, a single set of hosts volunteer from 11am to 3pm, Monday
through Friday. March through October, 2 sets of hosts volunteer 3 days on/4 consecutive days off. Hosts
will work approx. 7 hours per day with store hours being 10:30am to 4:30pm.
