Maud Williamson occupies a flat edge of cultivated Willamette Valley farm land on the west side of the Salem-Dayton highway. It's covered by a fine stand of second-growth Douglas fir. The park also includes a historic farm house once occupied by the person who donated the property as a park. The park provides a covered picnic shelter which can be reserved for group picnics. Large Douglas fir trees tower overhead providing excellent wildflower viewing in the early spring. Trilliums are abundant here.
The Day Use Host provides service for Maud Williamson State Recreation Site by supporting the landscaping and cleaning of the park. In addition, they help protect park resources by informing staff of any concerning activities they observe. Review the volunteer assignment description for this position here.
Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes 4 days a week, per host. Thursday thru Monday 6:30am-11am and 1/2 hour at posted closing time.
