One of the nation’s largest public campgrounds, Fort Stevens marks the site of a military installation once used to guard the mouth of the Columbia River. The fort saw service for 84 years, from the Civil War to World War II. Today, Fort Stevens is a 4,300-acre park offering a variety of recreation adventures, including camping, beach-combing, a freshwater lake, trails, wildlife viewing, and an historic shipwreck.
The Relief Host provides service for Fort Stevens State Park by supporting campground operations and improves visitor experience by providing direct service at the park including but not limited to serving in the visitor center, museum store, maintaining the park’s woodbins, covering for yurt and cabin cleaning and campground maintenance. Host volunteer helps maintain park areas by supporting landscaping and facilities at the park. Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes 20 – 30 hours of volunteer service each week, per host. 5 days a week with 2 consecutive days off.
