Yurt/Cabin Host at Devil's Lake State Recreation Area - SCHEDULED from July 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026  

General Responsibilities: • Be available for customers to purchase firewood/ice while on duty. • Clean assigned yurts and campsites using all proper PPE and cleaning procedures. • Collect and dispose of used pet waste bags in containers daily and replace bags in dispensers. • Monitor and run garbage compactor as needed. • Respond to visitors, staff, and volunteer requests in an attentive and respectful manner. • Provide excellent customer service for park visitors by giving out accurate information about this park, park activities, and the surrounding areas. • Provide campground maintenance, including cleaning out fire pits and/or stoves, light landscaping, sweeping, and litter pick up. Emptying trash cans in Hiker Biker camp and at boat moorage. • Operate golf carts. • Camp restrooms check in the morning hrs. (replacing toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc. as needed). Restricted Tasks: • Hosts may share information on park rules with visitors, but volunteers do not enforce rules or make initial contacts for rule infractions. This is only performed by Park Rangers with enforcement training. Minimum Required Qualifications: • Ability to take and follow direction with little supervision. • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and other volunteers. • Maintain a courteous and positive attitude. • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. • Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for long periods of time. • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions. • Must be able to adapt to change. • Physically capable of completing assigned tasks. Tasks will require motions like bending, twisting, crouching, stepping up, and lifting/reaching overhead. • Tasks will involve repetitive raking/shoveling motions and long periods of holding a leaf blower.
