Camp Host- Valley of the Rogue State Park Valley of the Rogue State Park is located off the I-5 along the beautiful Rogue River. The 277 acre park is comprised of a variety of mature trees, and includes the Green Way Bike trail as well as a shorter walking path. The park has more than 170 Campsites of various types as well as a Hall for our Junior Ranger Programs. It also features a boat ramp, rest area, and picnic areas. In addition to camping the park is popular for hosting a variety of Special Events. All Hosts will have access to a Full Hookup Site with water, power, and sewer. Laundry is available at the park with no charge in F Loop. Host mail will also be delivered to this location by the Park Staff. While not on duty hosts can enjoy the nearby communities of Medford, Ashland, and historic Jacksonville as well as explore local points of interest such as the Table Rocks. Location of Assignment: Valley of the Rogue Time Commitment/Schedule: 4 to 6 hours per day Purpose of Volunteer Role: The campground Host assists day use operations and improves visitor experience by providing direct service and support to the park General Responsibilities: · Respond to visitor, staff, and volunteer requests in an attentive and respectful manner. · Spot check facilities; restock paper and soap products, collect garbage, and sweep floors as needed. · Alert staff to safety issues, facility issues, and major cleaning needs. · Provide general site maintenance, including cleaning out fire pits, litter picking, collecting trash, and leaf blow sites, sidewalks and road. · Sell, and restock firewood sales though operation of small change fund or SRE’s. · Cover other host duties on their days off (They will cover duties on your days off) Required Qualifications: · Be at least 18 years old. · Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. · Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for long periods of time. · Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions. · Ability to be flexible and work as a team with staff and other hosts. · Operate utility vehicles (golf carts, gators, etc.) Additional Responsibilities, Based on Park Need: · Perform substantial seasonal cleaning of facilities. · Provide general campground maintenance, including cleaning out fire pits, light landscaping, and sweeping. · General landscaping duties including: pruning, raking, weeding, mowing, and trimming.
