Location of Assignment: Prineville Reservoir State Park – Jasper Point Campground Time Commitment/Schedule: Wednesday – Sunday (Mondays & Tuesdays off), 2-4 hours cleaning campsites/cabin, litter-picking, cleaning CXTs, (and/or completing any general landscaping or maintenance tasks) within the hours of 9am and 4pm, 1-3 hours selling firewood/ice within the hours of 5pm and 8pm. 20-30 total hours per week. Purpose of Volunteer Role: The North Road Host assists park staff to provide exceptional customer service, maintenance, and beautification with the goal of creating positive experiences for park visitors. General Responsibilities: • Greet visitors, answer questions, provide regional and park-specific information • Support, sell, and restock firewood and/or ice sales though operation of small change fund or SREs (Self Registration Envelopes) • (2-3 days a week) Provide maintenance for dispersed camping areas: clean out rock fire rings, light landscaping, and litter pick up. • General landscaping duties include pruning, raking, weeding, and string- trimming. • Safely operate UTV (CanAm side-by-side) • Provide light maintenance of restroom facilities (sweeping, disinfecting, re-stocking paper products, etc.). • Work closely with ranger staff while acting as "the eyes and ears" of this dispersed camping area. • On Mondays and Tuesdays (campground host days off), the North Road host covers the duties for the Jasper Point campground host: a) clean campsites: remove wood, ash, and trash from fire pits, pick up litter, rake or use blower to tidy sites b) clean the cabin between guests: dust, vacuum, mop, clean/disinfect surfaces, clean bathroom, remove trash, restock supplies. • North Road hosts are also expected to assist the campground host on busy weekends (especially with selling firewood and ice) • Hosts with time and interest may assist park staff with other projects and tasks relating to any skillsets they have. Projects may include flipping or replacing picnic table boards, removing overgrown sage brush using the winch on the Can-Am, fixing/maintaining gravel trails, etc Restricted Tasks: • Enforce Park rules: Hosts may share information on park rules with visitors, but volunteers do not enforce rules or make initial contacts for rule violations. This activity is only performed by paid park staff with enforcement training. Minimum Required Qualifications: • Be at least 18 years old. • Ability to lift-up to 20 lbs. • Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for long periods of time. • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
