Do you have a passion for plants, wildlife, geology, astronomy or Oregon’s vast logging history?  Like meeting new and interesting people?  Have you ever wanted your own outdoor classroom, located in a beautiful Southern Oregon setting?  The Collier State Park Management Unit in Chiloquin is looking for fun, energetic Interpretive Hosts to work this summer. 

Additional Customer service and campground upkeep/maintenance as needed.

DESCRIPTION:

            The Collier Memorial State Park Management Unit is recruiting for an interpretive host(s) to be based out the Collier Memorial Museum Interpretive Center. Interpretive hosts will work with the park’s interpretive staff throughout the season. The interpretive center is in the middle of the Logging Museum. Hosts play a vital role in interacting and delivering information to our park guests. In addition to delivering programs, and staffing the building, hosts will assist in the daily upkeep and cleaning of the interpretive yard and building.

            Park staff will provide the training needed, appropriate time will be given to allow hosts to familiarize themselves with the interpretive material provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Staff the Interpretive Building; 5 days a week.(4-5 hours a day)
  •  Field questions about the surrounding area (trails/sights to see/ flora/ fauna/etc.)
  • Deliver Jr Ranger Programs (programs geared towards children, and logging history)
  • Assist in daily cleaning of interpretive building (vacuuming, washing windows, sanitizing surfaces, etc.)

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Comfortable and proficient working with children.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Willingness to share life experiences in a educational manner

  • Host laundry facilities.
  • cell phone service through major providers in most park areas

Position will cover;

June July and August

open to one month or all three for interested hosts
