Description

Responding to this opportunity alerts staff of your interest. It does not automatically sign you up for this assignment. Park Staff will reach out to interview you and determine if you will be selected to volunteer for this specific assignment.

Stretching alongside the Columbia River and just 22 miles east of Portland, Rooster Rock is a perfect place to spend a day away from the city. When east winds rush down the Columbia Gorge at 25 to 40 mph, windsurfers descend to ride the whitecaps. Bring your windsurfing gear, or enjoy watching from the beach. A tranquil lagoon at the west end of the park is a peaceful spot to paddle or fish for bass, steelhead and walleye beneath the park’s namesake, Rooster Rock.

The Day Use Host provides service for Rooster Rock State Park by supporting maintenance and operations of the park, opening park facilities, and observing park activity and reporting concerns to park staff. Review the volunteer assignment description for this position here.

Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes 20 – 30 hours/5 days of volunteer service each week, per host

Location: Rooster Rock State Park. Learn more about the park and the available amenities on the Host Site Directory page for this property online here.
