Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge from the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. The trail comprises three disconnected paved paths along stretches of historic Highway 30 — which predated I-84 as the only road connecting Portland and The Dalles. Together the segments provide a combined 12-plus miles of thrilling scenery and spectacular geologic formations.
The Visitor Center host provides service for the Sen. Mark O. Hatfield HCRH Trailhead by supporting the visitor center during posted hours, selling park passes, souvenirs, and water. Handling cash and credit card transactions and keeping accurate, daily computerized records. Maintaining grounds, facilities, and trails, and observing park activity and reporting concerns to park staff. Review the volunteer assignment description for this position here.
Time Commitment: Volunteers should anticipate a schedule that includes 20 – 30 hours of volunteer service each week, per host. Visitor Center hours: Wed-Sun 10am-2pm
